Mr Michael Elvey is a leading London-based Consultant Orthopaedic Hand, Wrist and Elbow Surgeon, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the hand, wrist and elbow in adults and children. His practice encompasses patients of all ages and activity levels, from those seeking relief from everyday hand and wrist problems to recreational sportspeople and elite professional athletes, including those competing in Premier League football, rugby, tennis and boxing.

Mr Elvey graduated from the Royal Free and University College London Medical School in 2007, also obtaining a BSc (Hons) in Medical Law. Following specialist orthopaedic training on the University College London Hospitals programme, he completed prestigious Hand and Wrist Surgery fellowships at the internationally renowned Wrightington Upper Limb Unit and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, followed by a travelling observership at the Institut de la Main in Paris. In 2019, he was awarded the Vivian Lees Gold Medal for achieving the highest performance in the British Postgraduate Diploma in Hand Surgery examination.

Alongside his private practice in London and Hertfordshire, Mr Elvey holds an NHS Consultant post at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), where he plays an active role in training the next generation of surgeons. In 2026, he received the UCLH Society Trainer of the Year Award in recognition of his commitment to surgical education. Mr Elvey has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to major surgical textbooks, received numerous research prizes and presented at national and international scientific conferences. He also serves as a reviewer for leading hand surgery journals and maintains an active interest in medical law.

Mr Elvey is committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based care, helping patients understand their condition and return to their normal activities, work and sport. His commitment to patient care has been recognised with five consecutive iWantGreatCare Certificates of Excellence (2021–2025). Mr Elvey did an ulnar shortening osteotomy with interosseous membrane reconstruction. Mr Elvey listen to what I had to say. He clearly explained what the operations would be in simple language and how long the recovery process would take and what to expect.
